About the Role:

As an AI Developer (Backend-Focused) at Incision, you’ll help us bring AI prototypes into production, building secure, privacy-conscious tools for real surgical workflows.
You’ll work closely with our in-house dev team and our engineering partners in Serbia, as well as with our UX Designer, Product Owners, and Data Engineer. You’ll report to our Solution Architect and help shape everything from the technical architecture to the final user experience.
This is a great role for someone who wants to ship meaningful AI features in a domain where privacy, quality, and trust truly matter.

Your role:

●        Integrate and maintain LLM-based features into our production stack (e.g. chatbots, document summarizers, intelligent retrieval)

●        Design RAG pipelines and other AI-backed systems that are robust, scalable, and privacy-safe

●        Implement backend features using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS (Lambda, S3, OpenSearch, etc.)

●        Ensure compliance with privacy and security standards (GDPR, HIPAA) across all AI features

●        Collaborate on architecture and deployment strategies with our Solution Architect

●        Work closely with the AI-team, UX, Product, and external engineering teams to bring ideas to life

What You Bring 💪

●        2+ years of experience with Node.js + TypeScript in production

●        Hands-on experience building with AI/LLM tooling (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, LangChain, vector databases like Pinecone or OpenSearch)

●        Experience with RAG systems and chatbot-like tools in real applications

●        Familiarity with AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, S3, OpenSearch)

●        Understanding of privacy & data protection requirements in healthcare (GDPR, HIPAA, de-identification, secure handling of patient data)

●        Worked with tools like Cursor, MCPs, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and CLI environments

●        A pragmatic, analytical, and proactive mindset with an eye for detail

●        Excellent English communication skills
